2026 College Scholarship Recipient

Ascutney Mountain Audubon Society (AMAS) has selected Helen Sluka, a current graduate of Woodstock High School, as the winner of its 2026 scholarship.

Ms. Sluka has expressed a passion for the environment through learning.  “Through high school I have dedicated a lot of my time to the CRAFT program –Community and Climate Resilience through Agriculture, Forestry, and Technology. I believe that being educated in the sciences and understanding the functioning of our planet is a key factor of the betterment of the earth. I believe that supporting students’ drive to take action through all different areas of life and learning will help unite the daily life of humans and the environment.”

 The $1,500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior who lives within certain Vermont designated towns and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the environment.  Students are required to submit an application to the Vermont Student Assistance Scholarship Program during the annual application period.

Ascutney Mountain Audubon Society is a local chapter of Audubon that helps support initiatives that are important to the conservation of birds, other wildlife and their habitat.
